Obituary for
Robert W. Bernard
Marlborough,
Robert W. “Bobby” Bernard, 59, a longtime resident of Merrimack, NH and recently of Marlborough, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at home after a hard fought battle with Esophageal Cancer; he was 59 years old. Bobby was born in Medford on January 19, 1958, the son of the late Robert F. and Louise S. (Peterson) Bernard. He attended Franklin public schools prior to transferring to Waltham High School where he graduated with the Class of 1977. After graduation Bobby attended Northeastern University where he earned his BS in Electrical Engineering. He spent most of his working career working as an electrical engineer within Raytheon Corporation, most specifically the Tewksbury and Marlborough plants.
Bobby was a fan of baseball, and especially enjoyed following the Red Sox. He also enjoyed classic cars and was proud of his two 1970 Chargers which he would bring to local car events for others to enjoy. Road trips to Carlisle with his brother-in-law Paul were always an adventure; there was always a conversation to be had if it included four wheels and a large engine!
Bobby lovingly cared for his Springer Spaniels and is fondly remembered by his family for the surprise gifts from Bobby of rescue Springers looking for a loving home. Bobby leaves two sisters; Janice E. Conlon and her husband Paul of Frankiln and Louise F. Bernard and her husband William McDonough of Marlborough and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Anne L. Ferguson who passed on September 1, 2014.
At Bobby’s request his family has planned private funeral services. Please consider honoring his life and passion for Springers by making a donation to the New England Springer Spaniel Rescue, Inc., PO Box 407, Ashland, MA 01721 (http://www.essrescue.org )
