Shirley (Khandjian) Clausen passed away Sunday, September 9, 2017, with her beloved family by her side; she was 88 years old. She was the devoted wife of 65 years to Christian F. Clausen, who passed away in 2005. Shirley was born in Union City, NJ on May 20, 1929, the daughter of Samuel and Marie Khandjian. She grew up in Boston prior to moving to Watertown, after marriage she with her family moved to Framingham and then relocated to Texas in 1969.
Shirley spent many years in the Friendswood, TX area prior to moving to Northborough in 1991. She owned and operated the former yet still fondly remembered Blueberries & Lace Gift Shop on Main Street; a testament to her entrepreneur spirit. Shirley was an active member of the Grace Baptist Church in Hudson where she served in many capacities. She was a longtime member of the Northborough Art Guild and enjoyed teaching art lessons. She was a past president of the Heritage Garden Club in Friendswood.
Among those she leaves behind are three sons, Christian F. Clausen III and his wife Charla of Richardson, TX, Mark A. Clausen and his wife Kathy of Northborough and Matthew S. Clausen and his wife Lucy of Friendswood, TX; five grandchildren whom she was proud of, Devin, Lyra, Tyler, Kimberly and Christopher as well as one great-granddaughter, Haley. She also leaves two brothers, Russell Iknaian of Cambridge and Richard Iknaian of Somerville and one sister, Gloria Aucella of Las Vegas, NV, and many friends she made over the years.
Calling hours for Shirley will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017, from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough, MA. Her funeral will be held Friday, September 15, 2017, at 10 am at Grace Baptist Church, 353 River Road, Hudson, MA with burial following in Howard Street Cemetery, Northborough.
