Obituary for Cheryl A. "Cheri" Chambers (Barr)

Cheryl A. "Cheri" Chambers (Barr)
Shrewsbury
Cheryl A. (Barr) Chambers, lovingly known to all as “Cheri”, peacefully passed away in her sleep on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the age of 63. Among her survivors Cheri leaves her devoted husband of 42 years, David E. Chambers, three sons, Brian D. Chambers of Shrewsbury, Steven J. Chambers and his wife Tricia of Worcester, and Michael P. Chambers, also of Shrewsbury. She leaves behind 7 grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart, Conner Chambers, Sabrina Searles, AJ Chambers, Lillian Chambers, Grace Chambers, Adriana Chambers, and Riley Chambers; one brother, Jeff Barr and his wife Alta of Duncan, Oklahoma; and two sisters, Donna Wojcik and her husband John of Springfield and Judith Barr of Shrewsbury.
Cheri was born in Chelsea, MA on November 25, 1953, a daughter to the late John E. and Sarah A. (Carter) Barr. She spent her childhood in Brighton and attended the Our Lady of the Presentation School prior to her moving to the Northborough area where she attended Algonquin Regional High School, graduating in 1972. Prior to a recent declining of her health Cheri had waitressed at the Double Tree Hotel and Dean Park Pizza but to Cheri, the endearing role was that of mother and grandmother.
Cheri was considered a friend to all who met her. Whether it was a nonjudgmental ear to confide in or, if asked, sound advice on a current issue, Cheri was there for those who needed her. Friends and strangers alike would find reprieve and friendship in her home; she turned no one away. During times of stronger health Cheri enjoyed bowling and walking. In later years she became an avid black and white classic movie buff, often using them to educate her grandchildren. She enjoyed computers and gaming, music, caring for her cats, and anything Elvis and the Rat Pack.
Cheri’s Memorial Service will be held at 11AM on Thursday, March 23, 2017 in the Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough. A calling hour will be offered from 10-11AM prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers Cheri’s family requests memorial donations in Cheri’s name be made to New England Organ Bank, 60 First Avenue, Waltham, MA 02451 or by visiting http://neob.org/monetary-donations/
