Obituary for
Dennis Gordon Munyon
Taunton/ Berlin
Dennis G. Munyon, 60, of Berlin, a long time resident of Taunton, passed away unexpectedly at his home Thursday, September 22, 2016, after being stricken ill. Dennis was born in Clinton, MA on November 17, 1955, the son of Walter and Phyllis (Thomas) Munyon of Northborough. He spent his younger years in Berlin. He attended Berlin Public Schools before attending Worcester Vocational High School, where he concentrated his studies to become a machinist, a trade that he continued until the time of his passing.
Dennis moved briefly to Arizona before settling in Taunton, MA. He remained in Taunton for 15 years, where he and his former wife, Kathi, raised their two daughters. During this time in his life, Dennis dedicated himself to his family. After his daughters became involved in roller skating, he spent countless hours bringing them to skating practices and traveling all over the country to attend skating competitions.
Dennis returned to his home town of Berlin in 1999. He was a loyal employee of 29 years with KMS Machine Shop in Taunton. When not working, Dennis could be found in his home workshop, tinkering, planning and perfecting his latest masterpiece of elaborate Halloween and Christmas decorations for his home. He found great satisfaction in offering enjoyment for the crowds of holiday visitors who would make the annual pilgrimage to see what Dennis had planned for them this time. He was a humble and easy going man, with a great sense of humor and infectious laugh.
Dennis enjoyed the open road on his motorcycles, watching NASCAR, attending concerts, and caring for his pets. Above all, Dennis enjoyed spending time with his family, especially sharing weekly dinners with his mom and dad. Dennis was pre-deceased by his former wife, Kathi S. Munyon. In addition to his parents, he leaves behind two daughters, Jessica H. Vigliotti and her husband Jeff of Westborough, and Sarah J. Munyon and her partner David Proia of Spring Hill, FL, as well as two granddaughters, Sophia Vigliotti and Samantha Proia. Dennis also leaves five brothers, William Munyon and wife Jeanie Wagner of Austin, TX, James Munyon and his wife Catherine Munyon of Berlin, Donald Munyon and his wife Jo-Ann Munyon of Bolton, Stephen and his wife Susan Munyon of Lancaster, Robert and his wife Diane Munyon of South Glens Falls, NY; and one sister, Marjorie (Bunny) Munyon Ivey of Locust Grove, GA, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A time of visitation with Dennis’s family has been set for Thursday, September 29, 2016, from 4-7 p.m. in the Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough, MA. A funeral for Dennis will be held at 11a.m. on Friday, September 30, 2016, from the Hays Funeral Home.
