Obituary for Fred J. Link

Fred J. Link
Shrewsbury/Northborough
Fred J. Link passed away Saturday, September 10, 2016, in the UMASS Memorial Medical Center due to complications of an acute blood disorder; he was 72 years old. Fred was born in Philadelphia, PA, on February 23, 1944, the son of the late Frederick and Dorothea (Blenk) Link. Mr. Link attended Villanova University, earning his BS in Electrical Engineering in 1966. He then completed his Master Degree of Science through the University of Maryland in 1972.
Fred worked as an electrical engineer for many years in both the government and private sector computer fields. During this time he met the love of his life, who would become his wife on July 3, 1971, Patricia A. (Curtis) Link. Together they have shared the last 45 truly wonderful years together. Besides Patricia, Fred leaves 3 sons, David M. Link (Lynn Ferreira) of Arlington, MA, Peter C. Link of La Jolla, CA, and John M. Link of Long Island, NY, 2 grandchildren whom he adored, Joshua M. Link and Audrey E. Link. Fred also leaves a sister, Hildegard Brennan of PA, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and the many people he met whom he considered friends. A sister Elizabeth Link predeceased him.
Fred was a long time parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Parish, where he served as Eucharistic Minister. Fred loved his wife, children and grandchildren, more than anything. He enjoyed traveling to visit his sons’ homes; spending time with his grandchildren, and above all, his “Adventures with Pat”!
Calling hours will be Wednesday, September 14, 2016, from 4-7PM in the Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough, MA. His Funeral Mass will be held at 10AM on Thursday, September 15, 2016, in St. Rose of Lima Parish, 244 W. Main Street, Northborough, with burial following in Howard Street Cemetery. Fred’s family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of UMASS Medical Center for such compassionate and tender care shown to Fred during his illness. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Fred’s name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, NYC Chapter; Attn: Lynn Richardson; 61 Broadway; Suite 400; New York, NY 10006.
