Obituary for
Edward A. "Ted" Anderson Jr.
Marlborough/Hudson
Edward “Ted” A. Anderson, Jr., devoted husband of 24 years, Marjorie E. (Mueller), passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016, in the Marlborough Hospital after a brief illness. A longtime Hudson resident, Ted and Marjorie recently moved to Marlborough. Ted was born in Providence, RI on April 9, 1943, the son of the late Edward A. and Helen (Keegan) Anderson, Sr.
He attended East Providence High School prior to attending technical schools where he obtained his electrician’s license and technical training. Starting in the late 1960s he enjoyed a professional career of more than 20 years in the burgeoning computer and computer networking industry with Scientific Data Systems (SDS), Xerox Data Systems (XDS), Xerox Corporation, Network Switching Systems (NSS) Corp. and Bolt, Beranek & Newman (BBN), ultimately as an executive in technical customer support and service for clients that included NASA, the U.S. Government, Raytheon, major airlines and universities, among others. During his career he relocated several times with his family, including Foxboro and Plainville, Massachusetts, Penfield, New York and Hollis , New Hampshire , each time making a home for his children.
Ted leaves behind 3 sons, Scott E. Anderson of Brooklyn, NY, Steven M. Anderson of Northborough, and Keith R. Anderson of Hillsborough, NC.; 2 stepdaughters, Susan E. Wood of Boise, ID and Jeanette C. Attia Hanna of Plymouth, MA. He also leaves 9 grandchildren which he adored, Kaelan Anderson, Jasper Anderson, Walker Anderson, Elizabeth Anderson, Nathan Anderson, Laura Anderson, Joshua Shafer, Brandon Shafer, and Holly Shafer, and one great-grand daughter, Avynlee Shafer.. He also leaves two siblings, a brother, Dr. J. Stephen Anderson of Winslow, ME and a sister, Ellen McGinley of San Diego, CA. He was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Anderson.
Ted especially enjoyed traveling although much of it was due to work commitments. He often kidded that if the old travel plaques he received from the airlines were able to turn into free miles he still would be flying for free! Ted loved the sea and beaches, favorite destinations were Bermuda and Narragansett, RI. He also enjoyed settling into a good movie at home with Marjorie. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren and perhaps his greatest joy was in watching their sporting events, concerts and dance recitals.
Honoring Ted’s request, all services will be private. Please consider sharing a fond memory or condolence here on Ted’s Book of Memories page.
